Valentine’s Day is coming up – are you ready to look and feel your best? A great start is pampering yourself with lingerie that makes you feel good, seductive and beautiful.
According to Anita Schnarrenberger, owner of online-boutique for exclusive (silk) lingerie De Luxe Lingerie.eu, women buy lingerie to feel more self-confident and powerful. There are very few women who only buy it out of ‘pure necessity’. And (sorry guys) when women buy lingerie, they don’t do it to feel more sexy and attractive for their partner!
The right lingerie is the basis of any good wardrobe. But how do you choose appropriate lingerie and what should you bear in mind? Lingerie-expert Anita Schnarrenberger gives you styling and lingerie tips to make you feel great and powerful in the right lingerie. What are some styling do’s and don’ts?
Match your lingerie to the color of your clothes
No ‘Visible Panty Line’. When you wear well-fitted clothing, it’s best to wear a thong or g-string underwear (but not too tight that it cuts in the skin because otherwise it looks like you have ‘love handles’. If you don’t like thongs, you can wear seamless lingerie. Avoid lingerie that you see through your clothes. Match your lingerie to your skin color and not to your clothing especially with light colored clothes.
Firm Body Shaper
Lingerie can actually help you to get into the “Shape”. Shapewear firms up the body and atgives you a slimmer more shapely appearance. They give you a natural look and maximize what you already have. Thanks to continuous research and new technologies we now have fashionable shape-wears in various shapes, colors and sizes such as push-up-bra and high-panty. Today’s shape-wears are made of soft material and comfortable especiallythe ones from the better lingerie shops.
Choose the right size and fit
Lingerie that is too small is not flattering. Think of the effect of wearing a bra that is too tight under a t-shirt: it creates bulges on the back. So make sure you get the right size and have your breasts measured up every year. When lingerie is too big, it looks sloppy and doesn’t help your figure. Size is important because a bra should shape and lift. Next to the right size you need to choose a style that is well suited to your body type.
Is your figure ‘pear shaped’ with relatively larger hips and thighs? ‘Chemise’ or little gowns that hide the thigh area are a great choice. This will break up your bust and hips and draw attention to your waist. Unhappy with your large buttocks? Choose a thong that covers 1/3 of your buttocks to make them appear smaller. At the same time it gives the illusion of long legs. Do you have big breasts? Go for a ‘full cup bra’ of good quality. It offers enough support and is comfortable. In combination with a ‘low bikini style’ underwear it is a sexy set. Unhappy with your tummy? Choose a babydoll. Women who have a ruler figure should find styles that add curves to their figure and break up the straight line. Try a pushup bra and ruffled panties. This will add bulk to your chest and hips. Do you have a feminine hourglass body? Unfortunately ‘curvy’ often make the mistake of wearing loose-fitted lingerie. Make sure to accentuate your waist and cleavage with lingerie.
How do you take care of your Lingerie?
When you have beautiful lingerie, you want to make sure it stays nice. Faded lingerie doesn’t make us happy. Beautiful luxurious lingerie is made of various kinds of elastic materials. But elastic fabrics cannot handle the washing machine and especially high temperatures. Wash your lingerie by hand as much as possible and definitely not with temperatures highter then 30 degrees C, even when stated otherwise on the label. This way you keep the elasticity of your lingerie as long as possible.
