Women are better off in a skirt, if the latest research is to be believed. Skirts give a better first impression and are more likely to lead to success in the workplace, they found.
One thing’s for sure dressing isn’t what it used to be. The era when women had to dress like men and tried to fit into male molds is over. No more conformist power-dressing look and looking tough to keep up with the boys – the rigid mannish suit and standardized silhouette is dead.
Today women don’t have to wear a pant suit to prove their authority. The stiff male adopted suit has fallen out of fashion. Women at the executive level now have the confidence to embrace a diverse style fueled by feminine variety and tailoring. Now we see more fashionable items just as powerful – once considered taboo in the workplace for women.
The key for women is to look professional, yet retain their femininity. Women can now wear soft fabrics or colors, bold prints and have feminine tailoring and accessories at work and still project power. Interchangeable pieces enable women to customize their corporate look. We see more expressiveness and that is a great thing.
