Yes, it’s finally summer! And it’s tempting to dress overly casual to beat the heat. How you can you update your office wardrobe for the summer season while you take care not to overdo it?
When temperatures rise above 20 degrees (Celsius) we see the craziest outfits. No matter how warm the weather is, just make sure the message you want to send out, comes across.
What you wear, of course, depends on where you work and the (business) appointments you have. There are guidelines and to help you, I’ve put together styling tips. Well, get ready for some inspiration!
Do Relax a Little!
Do opt for wider silhouettes such as loose fit pants (with wide waistband) of brands like Maje or Solace London. Or a blouse by, for example, Scotch & Soda or Gestuz. For a professional and nonchalant look just combine a looser silhouette with one well fitted piece.
Do Bare a Little Skin!
Go for a modest neckline. Cover your shoulders. Do you have nice arms? Choose a cap sleeve such as a colored top at Vanilia. Hemlines should hit in the middle of the knees or just above. Watch out for the skirt that rides up. You can find great basic skirts and dresses for work at, for example, Filippa K and Hugo Boss.
You can use black in a summer look. Just play with size and proportion and combine it with light colored clothing and accessories.
Do Keep It In Balance!
Ánd a sleeveless top, ánd a short skirt ánd an open shoe? That’s a lot! Be careful not to show too much skin at once. If you opt for bare legs then pair it with a closed shoe (pump) and blouse or jacket with long or ¾ sleeves. With a pair of pants you’re fine to combine them with open shoes – at, for example, United Nude you find original sandals. Just keep your feet clean and manicured!
Unsure about what is appropriate to the office in the summer? Talk it over at work!
