Spring is the best time for a city break. The long weekends are ideal to get inspired, pick up new ideas and broaden your horizons. It gives plenty of energy!
A long weekend trip usually means you will walk, see and explore a lot. And then you want to pack smartly. What do you take with you? I have put down 3 clothing tips to help you prepare for your city break.
Tip 1: Be critical about the number of clothing items
Packing lightly makes travelling enjoyable. Consider in advance which outfits you are going to wear. What are you going to do and adjust your clothing accordingly. Your all-time favorite elegant, effortless cool and comfortable clothes are your best travel clothes. Of course you don’t want to bring too many items. But having a choice of what to wear is great. So just bring one or two extra pieces than you actually need on your trip.
Tip 2. Combine clothing
Clothing items that you can combine in different ways are very useful. For example, you can combine (wide) pants and top with sneakers or combine the same pants and top with moccasins and a (long) jacket that you wear open or a stylish, loose-fitting knitted (silk wool) sweater. Or a shirt dress that you can wear as a dress or as a jacket. This way you create various looks for a variety of occasions with a limited number of items.
Tip 3: Finish off your outfit!
With shoes and jewelry you really finish off your your outfit. Personally I think shoes are the most important styling item. Because shoes determine your outfit. I like to alternate and take an average of three pairs of shoes: 2 flat and 1 high heels. I wear the heaviest pair when travelling. Bring your fun jewelry. Accessorize in style. That gives a personal touch to your outfit. Jewelry pieces weigh nothing and do not take up any space.
Enjoy your city trip!
