This summer is warm and when it’s hot you want to enjoy without feeling like a sweaty disaster. So how do you stay cool during the hot weather? I have 3 tips for you to avoid feeling overheated and uncomfortable. Here’s some inspiration to help you get through the heat in style. Enjoy!
Tip 1: Keep your clothes loose
The looser, the better. The less fabric you have actually touching your body, the more comfortable you will feel. Believe it or not a loose fitted jumpsuit or dress will keep you cooler than a pair of tight pants or really fitted dress. Something more fitted doesn’t allow the fabric to breathe properly which keeps sweat and warm air close to your skin. So opt for a flowy garment which allows more circulation of air under your clothing.
Tip 2: Choose natural fabrics and light weight fabric
Natural fabrics are ideal in hot weather. Cotton, for example, is more breathable than polyester and rayon. It’s also better at absorbing sweat and dries faster, which means you won’t feel sweaty for as long as you would if your clothes were made from synthetic material. Tencel and lyocell are natural fibres that keep your head cool in hot temperatures.
Wear thin and light weight clothing. The fewer grams of textiles you carry on your skin, the less your body needs to work to stay cool.
Tip 3: Cover up and limit sun exposure!
Stripping down isn’t always a good way to cool off on a steamy day! Long sleeved shirts, long skirts and long pants can keep you cooler than a sleeveless top or short dress because they keep direct sunlight away from your body. But be aware that covering up doesn’t block out all UV rays. If you can see light through your fabric, the garment is offering little protection. Nowadays you also have sun protected clothes or products that are used like laundry detergents in a washing machine and add a layer of UV protection.
