Spring is here! Can you feel it? The days are longer and brighter, bees are buzzing, flowers are blooming, birds are singing and there’s always this feeling of optimism at this time of year. Spring is such an energizing time of year it’s like the new year is just starting. But coming out of the long cold winter months and jumping into spring can be a bit of a shock to your system. So in case you need a helping hand I’ve got a few tips to help you prepare for spring.
How you dress and how you take care of your body affect how you feel. Being comfortable in your own skin is not only about looking good but about feeling good and fit. What you wear, eating healthy, moving more can boost your self-esteem. I have listed three practical tips for you below to energize your way into spring and get you through the last bit of cold weather.
Tip 1: refresh your look!
I don’t recommend to pack away your woollen sweaters just yet, but it is time to start thinking about refreshing your look for spring and unleash a few spring outfits to boost your mood.
Even if you’re not feeling your best, adding a pop of your favorite color to your outfit is a great way to boost your happiness. So wear a color that makes you smile! With just a few small changes your outfit can shift from warm winter to a bright and airy springtime feel.
Whether you choose to head into town for a new colorful piece, or simply shop in your own wardrobe, it’s time to switch up your go-to outfits and find some new favorites to embrace springtime. Sounds like fun!
Tip 2: the right food for more energy
What you eat is a great way to keep your energy levels up and to feel good about yourself. Good nutrition provides enough energy and nutrients for your body: proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and fiber. If you eat a varied, fresh and healthy diet, you will get the nutrients you need. A healthy diet consists of plenty of vegetables and fruits, whole-grain cereal products, legumes like lentils and beans, oily fish, nuts and 1.5 liters of fluid per day.
But does that mean you have to eat 100% healthy? Hardly anyone can do that! You want to achieve practical long-term goals and a guilty pleasure once in a while is not bad at all. Do have fun in the kitchen! Embrace the new season and try something new with seasonal ingredients and lighter recipes. Enjoy and make conscious choices in small steps.
Tip 3: nature gives you energy!
Being in nature is a great mood booster. It reduces stress. It clears my head and helps to recharge my batteries. Spending at least two hours a week in nature is good for your creativity, relaxation, concentration and mood. It makes you mentally and physically stronger and can also help you lose those extra winter kilos. So go outside, get moving and take advantage of those longer and lighter days! With better weather it’s easier to get out and about. Breathe in that delicious spring air and in the meantime enjoy the sunlight that ensures the production of vitamin D in your skin.
